Born in 1981 in the city of Donetsk, Ukrainian SSR.
In 2002, he graduated from the painting department of the Donetsk Art College. After working in various publishing houses, he gradually moved towards independent creative work.
In 2004, he participated in the exhibition "Easter Vernissage" at the Donetsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In 2013, he held a solo exhibition titled "Shades of Gray" in the city of Kovel.
In 2014, with the beginning of the conflict between Donetsk and Ukraine, he worked at the government house and became the creator of the emblem of the new Donetsk People's Republic.
In March 2018, his second solo exhibition opened at the museum of the city of Khartsyzk (DPR), showcasing all the genres he worked in: landscape, portrait, and still life. Paintings in the style of surrealism were also presented.
In 2018, he held a solo exhibition in Chelyabinsk featuring landscapes and views of the city of Chelyabinsk.
Since 2022, Alexander Bolotov has been residing permanently in Saint Petersburg.
The artist works in almost all genres, but urban landscape is closest to him.
