Elena Asseeva was born in 1975 in Russia (Gelendzhik, Black Sea coast of Russia). She lives in Gelendzhik. 

The artist's method is to illustrate her own texts in various mediums, from graphics to objects and videos, both poetic and prosaic. The main theme is the interaction of time and history, issues of difficult historical heritage, and alternative history. The author strives to create an endless meta-text, a book that aims for global scope and, at the same time, the closeness and intimacy of writing in an envelope. Landmarks in Russian contemporary art: Arseniy Zhilyaev, Ivan Novikov. Among her favorite authors are Kazimir Malevich, Dmitry Lyon, Timur Novikov, Anselm Kiefer, and post-war abstract art in Russia. The artist is also interested in the philosophy of cosmism and the ideas of Nikolai Fedorov's Universal Museum. 

Member of the Union of Professional Designers of Russia, Member of the Union of Artists of Russia, nominee of several awards for Contemporary Art in Italy and Russia. Works are in private collections in various countries and in the collection of the Krasnodar State Museum of Fine Arts (Russia). Co-founder of the School of Languages and Design “ICL”. From 2012 to 2014, she studied iconography at the icon painting studio in Rome, in the church of St. Nicholas, led by Hieromonk Abel (Usachov).

Education: Graphic Design, Kuban State University (1995); Art History, St. Petersburg University of Humanities and Social Sciences (1998); Ph.D. in Art History (St. Petersburg University of Humanities, under the supervision of the Russian Institute of Art History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 2002); Visiting Scholar program on Russian Art History at the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies (Harvard University, USA).
