This original work «Forge Tower» was created by the contemporary Russian artist Alexander Samokhvalov and is available for purchase online.
Alexander Samokhvalov’s painting «Кузнечная башня» is a magnificent example of Russian landscape art, celebrating the grandeur and tranquility of ancient Russian monasteries. Judging by the architecture, the canvas depicts a part of the famous Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery, located on the shore of Lake Siverskoye.
Dominating the center of the composition is a tall, massive round tower crowned with an elegant tent roof and spire. Its walls, painted in delicate pinkish-beige tones, appear both monumental and sunlit. The contrast between the massive stone masonry and the light lines of the spire creates a sense of balance between strength and spirituality.
To the left of the tower, parts of the monastery complex are visible: white walls with arched galleries adjoining the fortress wall. These galleries, decorated with reddish accents and supports, create a rhythm along the receding wall. On the left, a part of a lower building with green roofs and slender onion-shaped towers framing the main ensemble also stands out.
A special charm is added to the painting by the water in the foreground — a lake whose surface vividly conveys the play of light. The water is painted in deep blue and turquoise shades, and the gentle ripple distorts the clear reflection of the tower and walls, giving the composition dynamism. In the very foreground, at the water’s edge, the artist depicted lush green grass and several stalks, creating a sense of an invisible boundary between the viewer and the water’s surface.
The sky is clear, light blue, with picturesque white clouds. Sunlight floods the scene, emphasizing the texture of the walls and the brightness of the greenery.
«Кузнечная башня» by Alexander Samokhvalov is a masterfully painted landscape in which historic architecture harmoniously blends with radiant summer nature.
This painting can be hung on the wall in your apartment, house, office, restaurant, or hotel, and it will become a wonderful decoration for your interior.
