The gates of the Tsar's courtyard in Izmailovo. 1682-1683. The design of the first tier clearly shows the influence of Baroque architecture. A wide passage is located exactly in the center of the lower tier. Narrow side entrances are placed symmetrically to the right and left of it. I painted the view through the gates to the inner courtyard. The courtyard is bathed in the evening sun, the gates are pale lilac. This contrast attracted me with its color as a creative challenge.
