This original work «The Mistress of the Copper Mountain» was created by contemporary Russian artist Tatyana Chepkasova and is available for purchase online.
The Mistress of the Copper Mountain is a folkloric character from the legends of the Ural miners. The Mistress is a mountain spirit and guardian of valuable minerals, owner of earthly riches, keeper of the mysteries of beauty and secrets of high craftsmanship. She was considered the patroness of miners. Her image became widely known thanks to P. P. Bazhov’s collection «The Malachite Box».
The Mistress of the Copper Mountain can appear as a beautiful green-eyed woman with a black braid and ribbons made of thin tinkling copper, wearing a dress of «silken malachite», or in the form of a lizard wearing a crown.
The female embodiment of nature is realized in the Mistress. She is a muse and beloved, demanding complete devotion; she cannot be understood without love, and she is both vulnerable and merciless. If a person has an inner fire and embarks on the path of mastering their craft, the Mistress accepts them, and then the person develops, revealing their talents and embracing their path.
To the left of the Mistress is a window shaped like the "Venus mirror": this symbol represents the feminine principle. There is a theory that it originated from the ancient Egyptian hieroglyph (Ankh), symbolizing life, immortality, eternity, and wisdom. Later, it became the symbol of copper among alchemists. It was the brand mark of the copper smelting plant where the very copper mine, from which this lady originates, was located.
This painting can be hung on the wall of your apartment, house, office, restaurant, or hotel, and it will become a beautiful decoration for your interior.
