This original work "Baba Yaga" was created by the contemporary Russian artist Tatyana Chepkasova.
The image of Baba Yaga combines traits of many ancient characters. On the border between two worlds, usually at the edge of the forest, stands Yaga's hut. Baba Yaga belongs to both worlds: the world of the living and the world of the dead.
There is a theory that the image of Yaga originates from the ancient Slavic pagan Mokosh — the goddess of witchcraft, mistress of the wild nature and the otherworld. The main function of this goddess is to determine fate. Mokosh spins its thread.
Can we influence where the ball of thread will roll?
