This original work, «Life’s a Bitch», was created by contemporary Russian artist Vladimir Abaimov.
Vladimir Abaimov’s painting «Life’s a Bitch» is a sharp, emotional, and aggressive surrealistic statement reflecting pain, disappointment, and a sense of hopelessness.
The central part of the canvas is occupied by two large curved strokes made with thick, blood-red and brown paint. These strokes form shapes reminiscent of beaks, heads, or distorted human faces turned toward each other. Within these deformed forms are small but piercing blue eyes — the only realistic details conveying a feeling of suffering and helplessness.
The background of the painting is a faded, blurred gradient transitioning from yellowish-green at the bottom to reddish-brown at the top.
On both sides of the central figures, sheets of paper fall into the air or onto the ground, covered in small, illegible handwriting. These sheets symbolize words, thoughts, promises, or perhaps the written art that loses its significance and descends into chaos.
The title «Life’s a Bitch» intensifies the aggressive, tragic tone of the work. Abaimov uses vivid, «raw» paints and distorted forms to create an image of emotional confrontation where words and thoughts disintegrate, leaving bitter disappointment in existence as the dominant feeling.
