"The Architect's Shop" near the Architectural Academy in Moscow is part of the ensemble of the estate of Count Ivan Vorontsov, built in 1772. This wing was reconstructed in 1904 according to the project of architect F. Shekhtel in the Art Nouveau style, as a hall for exhibiting works by students of the Stroganov School, which at that time was located in the main building of the estate, i.e., within the walls of the current Architectural Institute. After 1917, the Stroganov School ceased to exist as such, and the buildings housed the First Free State Art Workshops, later VKhUTEMAS, and from 1933 – the Moscow Architectural Institute.
