in a cold river.
Midnight flies through the window like a moon-eyed owl...
A guide – in my pocket.
A lantern on a hook.
The door creaks a violin chord, wound by a key...
A platoon of seasoned doubts stands guard at the entrance –
my visit obliges no one.
From planet to planet,
as the Eternal One charts,
hitchhiking along,
I am neither idler nor "messiah" –
a humble keeper of the kaleidoscope,
a new version of a jazz piece.
Reflecting in the gaps of bottomless mirrors,
I clearly see your refracted light within me.
A cocktail of sensations fills the glass,
and like a slice of lemon, the answer rises
to the sacred question: how to sing a hundred years?
I am present here, I am present beyond.
A seeker, in the past, of faded truths in wine,
a collector of syndromes under the full moon,
a sorrowful Pierrot in a lunatic dream –
today I am healthy, though not quite yet.
I contemplate within, I contemplate without
the quintessence of meaning in the substance of words,
the quintessence of Spirit in the substance of dust.
I need no painted dreams for happiness.
I cherish the ancient spinner at work –
let her spin with God!
I won’t sweat from fear,
casting a casual glance
at the torn calendar
worried by time,

the ragged shimmer over pebble notes –
flute, guitar, santur, and sarod,
the sleepy flight of a velvet butterfly,
the asphalt fleet of autumn leaves
protect from the temptation of Plutus.
At the scent of the miraculous Lotus
I instantly exchanged all illusions at once.
A faithful hitchhiking enthusiast,
no, I am neither a romantic nor a "messiah".
I am the kaleidoscope operator,
a new version of the eternal design.
