His indifferent expression suggests that everything in this world is transient, and only time remains unchanged.
On the left side of the painting, above the chessboard floor, rises a figure shrouded in a hooded cloak. Her face is hidden in shadow, which creates a sense of mystery and danger. The figure, like an evil genius or tempter, may symbolize hidden motives and ill intentions that are always present in the world of power and intrigue.
