In the center of Samara City ar the crossroad of the Frunze and the Red Army streets, two places of interest stand. The first is the Kurlina House. The arсhitect is Alexander Zelenko . This is landmark of modernist architecture. Nearby the Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is located. There are legends about Kurlina House. Dawn highlights Alexandra's profile on the facade of Kurlina's House, whose lips whisper something to the wind, although there is no evidence of the fact - only rumors about the architect in love. There is the legend that merchant Alexander Kurlin, a strange and rich man, was afraid of his own reflection, and a nymph from the ceiling of his boudoir is said to have whispered frightening things to him at night. Kurlin died in an underground passage, either from a shot due to his wife's infidelity, or by accident, and in 1917 the bullets of the executions hit the same marks on the walls. There are no traces of the child in the house, although the metrics mention the daughter — either she was taken away or she was not there, but sometimes children's laughter is heard. After the revolution, the residents of the house heard night footsteps and found yellow petals, as if the ghosts of the past still roam the rooms. The Kurlina House keeps its secret in silence, as if waiting for someone to solve it.
The other sight in Samara is the Polish Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, built in 1906 in the Neo—Gothic style. The first Poles appeared here in the 17th century, and in 1858, merchant Annaev financed the construction of a wooden prayer house. An attempt to build a stone church in the 19th century failed due to the Polish Riot, and the building was handed over to the Lutherans. In 1902-1906, a modern church was built according to the design of Thomas Bogdanovich and Alexander Shcherbachev. The architecture of the temple includes neo-Gothic elements: lancet windows, pinnacles and the shape of a cross with a transept. In Soviet times, the church was closed and turned into a museum, but in 1991 it was returned to the Catholic community. After the restoration in 1996, the church was consecrated again, and in 2000 the crosses were returned to the spires. Originally there was an organ in the church, but now there is a fresco with a copy of a painting by Dali. Today, worship services are held here, a library and a Bible study group are open. The Polish Church remains one of the most recognizable sights of Samara, connected with the history of the Polish community.
