This original artwork "Working Days of the Volga River." was created by the contemporary Russian artist Nikolay Lukashuk and is available for sale online.
The monumental canvas "Working Days of the Volga River." is dedicated to the daily, unnoticeable, but very important work of river workers and the industry of the great Russian river. The central motif is a construction site on the bank, where working cranes and barges are located at the very edge of the water. Here, the elements of nature and human efforts come together in a single rhythm: in the foreground, yellow-brown water, speckled with fresh brushstrokes, boils, seagulls circle above it, and in the distance, the shades of limestone deposits smoothly give way to the living greenery of the slopes. The painting is filled with movement: a yellow port crane slowly lifts a heavy load; ships are lined up at the pier, and waves run along the surface of the water. The clear blue sky in a large format gives space to the painting, fills it with air and perspective. The variety of textures - hard water, rough slopes and dense painting technique convey nature and man-made space in different ways. The entire canvas is a window into the everyday life of a river worker, into the real, not the elegant and ceremonial Volga landscape; there is a severe beauty of work, associated with risk and natural unpredictability. But deep optimism and respect for everyday heroism runs through the entire scene - the artist notices the simple joys and fatigue of a person against the backdrop of the grandeur of nature, showing how harmoniously the work fits into the general symphony of the great Volga.
The artist shows us the part of Volga River between Samara and Kazan. We can see the working process of mining of the crushed rock, shipment to the barges and trasportation by the Volga River. For us the Volga is not only beautiful sights and landscapes but also buisness route for numerous activities.
