The Isaakievsky Cathedral is one of the most famous and grand temples of Saint Petersburg. Its construction lasted from 1818 to 1858 as part of Auguste Montferrand's architectural project. The cathedral is dedicated to Saint Isaac of Dalmatia, the patron saint of Peter I. The building impresses with its size: the height is 101.5 meters, and the diameter of the dome is 26 meters. Inside the cathedral there are mosaics, paintings and sculptures, as well as columns made of malachite and lapis lazuli.
