This original work, «Insulation», was created by contemporary Russian artist Oksana Sotnikova and is available for purchase online.

The painting by Oksana Sotnikova titled “Insulation” is a captivating still life that, however, is far from cozy. At the center of the composition is a transparent vase filled with strange, tubular objects.

These objects are curved and stretch upwards, ending in large, dark, smooth «heads», as if they are actively scanning the space. Their shape evokes associations with living stems, but the material seems artificial, metallic, or plastic.

The entire group protrudes from the vase against the backdrop of an arch framing a bright golden space. The gold here has a dual meaning: it can symbolize luxury or serve as a shining but unattainable background. The walls on either side of the arch are gray and textured, creating a sense of solidity and alienation.

The title «Insulation» is key. These strange «flowers» are not meant to absorb the beauty of the world but to capture sounds. Yet, enclosed in the vase and surrounded by walls, they are likely isolated from the real world and capture only echoes or noises of their own closed system. The painting speaks of isolation through an exaggerated desire to listen and be heard.

This painting can be hung on the wall in your apartment, house, office, restaurant, or hotel, and it will become a beautiful decoration for your interior.
