This original work, «Still life with a samovar», was created by the contemporary Russian artist Fedor Konev.
Fedor Konev's painting «Still life with a samovar» is a vivid, cheerful still life executed in the artist's characteristic expressive and textured style, celebrating the traditions of Russian tea drinking.
At the center of the composition is the samovar, painted with broad, confident strokes. Its metallic surface is conveyed through a play of cool tones — blue, gray, and white — which reflect light coming from an unseen source. The samovar appears three-dimensional thanks to the thick application of paint.
The composition is complemented by various objects arranged on the tablecloth. To the right stands a pitcher or jug in warm yellow tones. The fabric covering the table is rendered in vibrant blue and white tones, forming a visible checkered or zigzag pattern, which adds additional graphic quality to the work. To the right, next to the samovar, there is a bouquet of flowers in blue-purple tones that harmonize with the blue color of the tablecloth.
Konev’s «Still life with a samovar» is a hymn to home comfort and abundance. The artist conveys not so much the exact shape of the objects as the feeling of warmth, hospitality, and joy from a rich, simple feast, using the full power of his expressive technique.
