The painting “Journey Through Time” is a reflection on the impermanence of our lives and the metamorphoses that occur within us.
The ripe pears on the plate symbolize the journey of life from the past—the period of blossoming—to the present—the fruit at the peak of ripeness. Another key element of the composition is the terracotta folds framing the fruit like ancient scrolls—keepers of history and bearers of the memory of generations.
In the background are replicas of ancient frescoes from King Minos' palace in Knossos: a blue monkey, a symbol of metamorphosis and the thirst for change, and a jug that holds the secrets of millennia. These material testimonies from the island of Crete are tangible traces of a great but lost civilization.
The painting not only gives us the opportunity to connect with ancient artifacts, but also carries a message: “There is some magic in going far away and then coming back completely different” The words shine through the paint, like echoes of our thoughts.
The work reflects the author's personal experiences: it was painted at a time when the artist, after a successful career in business, radically changed her life, stepping out of her comfort zone and following her dream of making a name for herself in the art world. The painting reveals a fundamental law of existence, showing how, at the crossroads of life, each of our choices marks the end of one path and the beginning of another, opening up new possibilities.
INVESTMENT ATTRACTIVENESS
The investment attractiveness of the painting “Journey Through Time” stems from its belonging to a thematic series, active exhibition history, stable market demand, recorded growth in prices for reproductions, and publication in a professional art publication. The work is part of the series “In the Footsteps of Lost Civilizations,” where each work is based on the conceptual unity of the visual image, title, and text integrated into the pictorial surface.
The exhibition activity of the work covers different levels of the art market. In 2025, the painting was presented at the international multimedia exhibition “Dialogue across Continents,” focused on key players in the art community, including leading American galleries and participants in the Art Basel and Frieze fairs. In the same year, the painting, along with other works from the series “In the Footsteps of Lost Civilizations,” participated in the all-Russian exhibition-competition “Talent of Russia” in Moscow and in the artist's solo exhibition in Padua (Italy).
Sustained market demand is confirmed by the successful sales of her reproductions (premium giclée, limited edition of 10 copies) on the ArtSreda platform: between June and October 2025, two reproductions were sold. The sale price showed positive growth dynamics, confirming the growing interest in the artist's work and directly affecting the investment value of the original.
The publication of the work in the authoritative print publication Art and Life (volume 24), as well as in the article Elena Kosova: From ROSATOM to Painting, published on the Dzen digital content platform (2025), further strengthens the work's position in the art market.
