The painting “Illusion of Eternity” is part of the art series In the Footsteps of Lost Civilizations, dedicated to the search for invisible threads connecting bygone eras with the present day. The basis of the artistic expression is the aesthetics of fragmentation. This deliberate fragmentation serves as a key tool, transforming the canvas into something resembling an archaeological find. The painting invites the viewer to engage in a silent dialogue with extinct cultures. “Illusion of Eternity” is a work that encourages us to reflect on the transience of everything in our lives.

The composition reveals the inexorable passage of time. The viewer's attention is drawn to a dish of plums. Some fruits are ripe, juicy, with sun glints on their skin — a symbol of the fullness of life, the bright colors of the present. Next to them are fruits that the artist has turned into shadows, ready to disappear into oblivion — a sign of the inevitability of decay and oblivion. The folds of the fabric sometimes reveal, sometimes conceal the image of a chief's mask and frescoes of dancing Mayan Indians. Running your hand over the canvas, you can feel the scars of time.

In the background is an image of Indian dancers — a replica of the frescoes from one of the nine temples in the city of Bonampak that have survived to this day. The inscription on the canvas disappears like the rays on the ruins of the Palenque temple: “Time flows slowly, but passes quickly.”

This work was conceived by the artist as a summing up of her life after most of it had already been lived. Looking at the painting, you realize how fragile that which seems unchanging really is. Eternity is just an illusion woven from fleeting moments and monuments doomed to turn to dust.

INVESTMENT ATTRACTIVENESS

The investment potential of the painting “Illusion of Eternity” is based on a complex of complementary factors: the conceptual integrity of the series, confirmed by exhibition activity, stable market interest, recorded positive dynamics in the sale price of reproductions, and documented interest from specialized publications.

The conceptual basis of the painting, based on the trinity of image, title, and text, is realized within the series “In the Footsteps of Lost Civilizations.”

Recognition at various levels of the art market is demonstrated by participation in 2025 in the international multimedia exhibition “Dialogue across Continents,” aimed at the professional community, in the all-Russian competition “Talent of Russia,” in the exhibition “United by Art” (Mexico City), and the artist's solo exhibition in Padua (Italy). The painting is also a laureate of the international exhibition-competition of symbolic art “World of Illusions” (Moscow).

The successful sale of three limited edition reproductions (giclée) at the ArtSreda auction during the summer and fall of 2025, with a 22% increase in price, is an indicator of sustained market demand and a positive impact on the value of the original.

The publication of reproductions in specialized print media, including the publication “Art and Life,” volume 24 (2025) and the book “Dialogues on Art” (2025), as well as in the article “Elena Kosova: From ROSATOM to Painting,” published on the Dzen digital content platform (2025).
