I depicted Dmitry Shostakovich in a modern reportage style, against the backdrop of a poster after the first performance of the Seventh Symphony in Kuybyshev. The composer, along with his family, was evacuated through Moscow, where the symphony was completed on December 27, 1941.
Its premiere took place in Kuybyshev 80 years ago. The color scheme conveys the anxious stage lighting and refers to the color of the arrows on tactical maps from the WWII era.
The painting participated in the exhibition «Signs, Symbols, and Myths» at the New Space gallery. Samara. 2021.
