This original work «The Night Flight part 2» was created by contemporary Russian artist Anastasia Popova and is available for purchase online.
Anastasia Popova’s painting “The Night Flight part 2” is a logical continuation of the previous work, deepening the theme of the night flight and expanding its symbolic meaning. While “part 1” focused on the birds themselves as symbols, “part 2” turns to the landscape, to the environment in which this flight takes place, adding new layers of perception.
In this part of the composition, a darker, deep blue color dominates. The horizontal lines, which in the first part were more symbolic, here take on a more defined form, resembling ripples on water or perhaps the curves of the earth’s surface seen from above. This creates a sense of perspective, depth, and boundless space.
The foreground of the painting is occupied by textured elements that create the image of a seashore. The use of various fabrics – coarse burlap, delicate lace, and translucent blue fabric – gives the work volume and tactility. Burlap symbolizes earth, naturalness, and primal essence. The lace, like the foam of sea waves, adds elegance and airiness, while the blue fabric undulates to form the image of the water itself, rolling onto the shore.
This composition evokes a feeling of arrival, achievement of a goal, or perhaps the beginning of a new stage of the journey. The night flight, which was a symbol of search and aspiration, now gains its location, its finale, or perhaps rebirth.
“The Night Flight part 2” continues to explore duality and contrasts. The dark sky, symbolizing the unknown and mystery, meets the illuminated shore, symbolizing attainment, safety, and a new beginning. The white lace foam, like remnants of the night journey, contrasts with the coarse texture of the earth.
The painting offers the viewer not only a visual but also a tactile experience. The variety of textures invites the desire to touch and feel these materials. This makes the artwork more alive and multifaceted.
“The Night Flight part 2” is not just a continuation but an independent piece that, together with the first part, creates a complete story. It is a reflection on the path, on achievements, on the fact that after a long and difficult flight there is always a place to find peace and start something new. Anastasia Popova’s work once again demonstrates her mastery in using symbols and textures to convey deep emotional experiences.
The second part of the triptych «Night Flight». A painting from the series «Planet Lalala». The series is inspired by the Baltic Sea, the calm and joy reigning on its shores. The work is executed in an unusual mixed technique – textile collage and embroidery. All materials are as natural as possible and carefully selected.
You can hang this painting on the wall in your apartment, house, office, restaurant, or hotel, and it will become a wonderful decoration for your interior.
