This original work «A smile for Alice 2» was created by contemporary Russian artist Vasily Prilepa and is available for purchase online.
Vasily Prilepa's painting «A smile for Alice 2» is a continuation of the play with images and motifs from Lewis Carroll's fairy tale, where the artist once again immerses the viewer in a surreal world full of symbols and ambiguity. This time, the focus shifts, and we see a new interpretation of the encounter with Alice, filled with a sense of mystery and hidden meanings.
At the center of the composition is a mysterious figure hidden behind a thick dark mane of hair. Her face is barely discernible, as if dissolving into the shadows, creating an atmosphere of enigma. This figure could be Alice, already immersed in the world of fantasy, or someone watching her, or even the very boundary between reality and fairy tale.
Above this figure rises a huge green hat, reminiscent of the Hatter's headwear. The hat bears the inscription «Алиса», directly pointing to the theme of the work. The hat, like a portal or window into another world, gives the entire scene a fairy-tale character. Its lush and voluminous form envelops the figure, enhancing the feeling of immersion in a fantasy world.
Below the figure is a table on which, as in the previous painting, cups stand, but here they are depicted more abstractly. Perhaps these objects symbolize scattered elements of reality that Alice gathers together on her journey. One of the cups, located in the center, is illuminated by a bright light, drawing attention and emphasizing its significance.
The background of the painting is rendered in a rich emerald green color with textured brushstrokes. This deep and mysterious green creates a sense of nature, magic, and possibly some unease. The background also shows hints of patterns that may symbolize a labyrinth or tangled paths along which Alice travels.
Vasily Prilepa uses an expressive technique in which brushstrokes create a sense of movement and liveliness. The color palette of the painting is a combination of green, dark, and light shades, creating an atmosphere of mystery, playfulness, and psychological depth. «A smile for Alice 2» is a painting that makes one reflect on the nature of reality, the limits of perception, and the importance of preserving a piece of childlike innocence and belief in miracles within oneself.
This painting can be hung on the wall in your apartment, house, office, restaurant, or hotel, and it will become a wonderful decoration for your interior.
