At first glance, we see a portrait worthy of Lewis Carroll’s Wonderland or a surreal garden where biology gives way to pure imagination. The main character is a goose. But this is not just a domestic bird; it is a creature from a parallel reality.
What is most astonishing about this goose is its “hairstyle” or, if you will, its crown. On its head, where smooth feathers would normally be, five flowers stick out in different directions. This is the very metaphor of “blooming” — the goose is not merely standing among flowers; it has become part of them, sprouted through them. The goose has literally blossomed.
The goose stands on a remarkable glade. Instead of the usual daisies or bluebells beneath its feet, fantastic flowers in the shape of circles have bloomed. They resemble colorful targets or multicolored planets that have drifted from their orbits.
“Goose in Bloom” is a hymn to vibrant individuality, a story about how one can bloom even if you are just a goose standing in a meadow.
The painting is from a triptych series titled "Чудо-юдные обитатели и там, где они живут".
