«The Door of Search»

From the series «6 Doors of State»

«The Door of Search» is the first work of the new scientific-artistic project by Antonio Lebedef, created in collaboration with neuroscientist Vladimir Kozlov (Skolkovo).

This painting is not just a visual object—it is a stimulus, a tool of influence, and an artistic form integrated into a laboratory experiment.

An Aesthetic that Activates the Brain

In his signature glitch-surrealism style, Lebedef combines painterly fields with abstraction, fragmenting reality in the way the brain perceives fragments of information in the era of digital pressure.
Vertical light structures and «torn» fragments of the landscape function as cognitive triggers, tuning the viewer into a state of exploratory search.

Clouds and spatial gaps represent the boundary between the known and the possible; between automatic reactions and new neural pathways that emerge in moments of surprise and attention.

Captured Impact

Unlike traditional art, the influence of «The Door of Search» is confirmed by observation:
The artist and scientist conducted three experimental demonstrations, each with a group of 50 people.
In all three sessions, the audience exhibited the same phenomenon:
📍 increased viewing time
📍 searching for unnoticed details
📍 a surge in verbal activity—questions, discussions, attempts to «decode» the image

In neuroscience terms, this is a shift from automatic perception mode to an active orienting response; in artistic terms, it is a return to attentive viewing in an age of information noise.
