The apple, as a symbol of eternal youth and fertility. The apple tree is considered a sacred tree associated with motherhood and protection.
20th-century culture brings its own adjustments to the symbolism of the fruit-hero. The noble
gardener, Claude Monet, painted a blooming apple orchard – an embodiment of fullness and thirst
for life. About two hundred still lifes and numerous apples on the table – this is Cézanne's contribution
to the «apple theme». Having once said, «I will surprise Paris with an apple!», the artist kept
his promise: he had a simple fruit – a symbol of a new vision in art.
Popular culture of our time does not neglect the symbolism of the apple, using
«mixtures» of many motifs familiar to us. This is often found in advertising, as well as
in the emblems of companies and brands. No need to look far: the most recognizable logo in the world,
Apple's apple, is a successful synthesis of the symbol of knowledge and prosperity.
By the way, the lines of the famous logo were designed «in the style of Picasso». Well, in the world
of art, everything repeats itself, even the apple.
